Like & co

Why is that people have been asking for dislike and other buttons on facebook for a long time? I guess it's obvious, why did it take so long? No clue. I why is facebook now the one doing it? Why is there no-1 in g+ and why is there only harts in allmost all other social media? Who will follow facebook?
